LIBERTY UTILITIES PARK WATER OFFERS LEAD TESTING SUPPORT TO AREA SCHOOLS
Voluntary Testing Is Intended to Identify Potential Problems with School Plumbing
DOWNEY, CA (Jan. 26, 2017) – Liberty Utilities Park Water (Liberty Utilities) announced today that it will offer professional testing to support schools within its service area as part of a new state program designed to further protect drinking water by monitoring campus infrastructure for signs of lead contamination.
The new monitoring effort is part of a statewide program authorized by the State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Drinking Water, which allows schools to request testing of water samples taken at locations such as drinking fountains, cafeterias, and kitchen areas. That testing will be performed at no cost to the schools by Liberty Utilities experts.
“We look forward to working closely with our schools on this important project,” said Liberty Utilities Park Water Vice President and General Manager Jeanne-Marie Bruno. “Liberty Utilities water has been tested system-wide and has been determined to be lead-free. Testing at school sites is an extra safety step that will determine whether aging pipes and fixtures on campus are a potential source of lead and need to be repaired or replaced.”
Liberty Utilities’ water quality team conducts hundreds of lab tests annually on water samples throughout the Park Water service area to ensure the drinking water supply meets all state and federal standards. The new state program extends testing activity from households to include schools upon request. Schools that are interested in participating in this program should complete the request form provided on Liberty Utilities website or by clicking here.
Customers with questions are encouraged to contact their school district for more information. Details on the statewide lead testing program can be found on the State Water Resources Control Board’s website.
